OVO has agreed to pay £2.37 million after Ofgem found shortcomings in how the company managed customer complaints.
Ofgem first engaged with OVO in 2023 following concerns raised by Citizens Advice Scotland’s Extra Help Unit.The energy regulator’s investigation identified issues such as significant delays in addressing complaints, with some lasting up to 18 months.

Octopus gives away 20,000 free electric blankets
Octopus Energy has announced the relaunch of its electric blanket scheme, offering an extra 20,000 free blankets to support vulnerable customers this winter.
The initiative, which began in January 2022, has already distributed over 60,000 blankets.The scheme, funded by Octopus’s £30 million Octo Assist Fund, aims to help customers reduce heating costs.

Ireland’s renewables auction ‘falls short of 2030 goals’
The results of Ireland’s fourth Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS 4) auction reveal progress but indicate a shortfall in meeting the 2030 renewable energy targets.
According to consultancy Cornwall Insight, the auction secured 960MW of solar and 374MW of onshore wind, showing improvement from previous years.
