    On a day filled with NFL transactions, when teams claimed players and started to build their practice squads, the Rams added to their depth on their offensive and defensive lines on Sunday.
    The Rams claimed three players through the NFL waiver system: offensive linemen J.J. Dielman (from Cincinnati) and Aaron Neary (Philadelphia), and defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson (Seattle).

    ORANGE A traffic collision on Orangewood Avenue west of the 57 freeway left five people injured and required one person to be cut from the vehicle, fire officials said.
    The collision was reported at 11:02 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 after one vehicle — driving the wrong direction — cut across multiple lanes, striking another vehicle driving east on Orangewood, said Orange Fire Battalion Chief Sean Demetropolis.

    SAN DIEGO – Justin Turner’s two-run pinch-hit home run in the ninth inning tied the game but Yangervis Solarte followed with a walkoff home run in the bottom of the inning, giving the San Diego Padres a 6-5 victory over the Dodgers in the first game of a doubleheader at Petco Park Saturday afternoon.
    The loss is the Dodgers’ sixth in their past seven games. Right-hander Yu Darvish is scheduled to start the night game beginning at 7:10 p.m.

    Tsering Choky, 37, her husband and two young sons made the 60-mile drive Saturday, Sept. 2, from their Canoga Park home to attend the human rights workshop on Tibet and Vietnam.
    “In the United States, we can forget how important human rights are in our daily activities,” said Choky, a native of Tibet. “I came to learn more about how Tibet and Vietnam can work together since we face the same issue — China.”
