Angels hammer Oakland bullpen in Cactus League win
THE GAME: The Angels jumped on the Oakland Athletics’ bullpen for nine runs over a four-inning stretch and rolled to an 11-5 victory on Tuesday in Mesa, Ariz.
PITCHING REPORT: Shohei Ohtani not only delivered his two innings, as expected, but he picked up an extra two batters in the third inning to round out his day at his request, instead of reaching his targeted pitch count in the bullpen. Ohtani had a dominating seven-pitch first inning before he walked two of his last five batters. &ld

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Tyler Higbee waited nearly a year for this moment.
And once the Rams tight end had the ball in his hands, he wasn’t letting anyone stop him from getting into the end zone.
With the game tied against the New York Jets early in the fourth quarter Sunday, Higbee caught a short pass from Matthew Stafford, rumbled down the sideline and dived over the goal line for a go-ahead 11-yard score in the Rams’ 19-9 victory.

The Rams (9-6), who have won five of six, maintained their spot atop the NFC West standings with the victory after a slow start against the Jets (4-11) on a day when it was a frosty 23 degrees (minus-5 Celsius) at kickoff.

Democrats really don’t understand democracy, or why they lost the presidential election
Democracy proved to be a terrible campaign concept in November, but that hasn’t stopped Democrats’ musings.
Speaking at the Obama Foundation Democracy Forum earlier this month, former President Barack Obama lamented that “(t)he election proved that democracy is pretty far down on people’s priority list.”
Apparently, Obama got numerous groans and eye rolls when he told friends the foundation would be hosting an event discussing pluralism and democracy.

    Michael Huemer: Confronting progressive myths
After politicians and used car salesmen, political activists are perhaps the most dishonest group of people in our society. Nearly every piece of information they disseminate is a distortion or outright lie. Unfortunately, much of the information we consume in the political realm comes from activists and other ideologues. This includes a good deal of information that comes filtered through media and academic sources, who often uncritically repeat activist talking points. Activists tell us, for i

If the fight over Congress’ continuing resolution is any indication, the incoming Republican-controlled body likely will be defined by chaos. Republican lawmakers, who cling to a razor-thin majority in the House of Representatives, will likely just wait for directions from President Donald Trump – or from his most-vocal surrogates, such as Elon Musk.
