Recipe: Shrimp, Tomato and Basil Pasta is an easy and delicious weeknight dinner
Shrimp and pasta are alluring partners, the shrimp lending a subtle sweetness and slight saltiness to the starchiness of the tender pasta. Tomatoes, fresh basil and garlic come to the party, too, making this quick-to-prepare dish a weeknight winner.
Should the petit “tail” shells be removed? I save time by using defrosted frozen shrimp that is shelled and deveined but still have their tail shells in place. I figure that weeknight diners can cut off the shell-on tiny tails, but feel f

Tesla data helped police after Las Vegas truck explosion, but experts have wider privacy concerns

NEW YORK (AP) — Your car is spying on you.
That is one takeaway from the fast, detailed data that Tesla collected on the driver of one of its Cybertrucks that exploded in Las Vegas earlier this week. Privacy data experts say the deep dive by Elon Musk’s company was impressive, but also shines a spotlight on a difficult question as vehicles become less like cars and more like computers on wheels.

As U.S. lawmakers debate issues around health care for transgender youth, it’s been difficult to determine the number of young people receiving gender-affirming medications, leaving room for exaggerated and false claims.
Now, a medical journal has published the most reliable estimate yet and the numbers are low, reflecting more clearly on medical practices now being weighed by the U.S. Supreme Court.

2 Huntington Beach library ballot initiatives have gathered enough signatures to force public vote
Huntington Beach has two ballot initiatives related to the city’s libraries that have qualified with enough signatures, both reactions to actions the City Council has taken over the last few years.
The first initiative seeks to repeal a city law that allowed Huntington Beach to create a children’s library book review board. The second would make it harder for the city’s public library operations to be privatized, a response to council discussions early last year.

The New Year is the same as the Old Year
The Romans set January as the first month of the year. Originally, March had been the start of the new year. But the early Roman kings, before the republic, moved it to coincide with Janus, a two-faced god who looked backward with an old face and forward with a young face. Julius Caesar realigned Roman governance around January being the start of a new year of governance.
The reality, however, is it is arbitrary and we have all given great psychological importance to it. The pagans of Rome engag
