    Medi-Cal needs an audit
Medi-Cal is broken. It’s billions over budget, and the patients who rely on it are struggling to get access to high-quality, reliable care. Just last month, Gov. Gavin Newsom was forced to pour an additional $6.2 billion into Medi-Cal after it ran out of money.
We need an audit to get to the bottom of these cost-overruns to stabilize the program for vulnerable people who depend on it and prevent painful cuts to other critical services provided by the state.
Over the past six years, Medi-Ca

Memo to California’s Democratic lawmakers: Soliciting minors should be a felony
Why are California’s Democratic lawmakers so ambivalent about protecting 16- and 17-year-olds from sex trafficking?
It is the strangest hill to die on, but so many in Sacramento are adamant that this is a tough question, one requiring much pondering.
This week, Assemblymember Nick Shultz, the Burbank Democrat who chairs the Assembly Public Safety Committee, forced a colleague to strip language out of her bill, AB 379, which would make it an automatic felony to purchase sex from a 16- or 17

Dejan Joveljić joined the Galaxy late in the 2021 from Eintracht Frankfurt and, despite limited minutes, made the most of his scoring opportunities.
In what would be his final year with the Galaxy, he capped it with a 20-plus goal season – 21 in all competitions, including one in December’s MLS Cup victory over the New York Red Bulls.
“Dejan, from Day One, he is a single-minded, in many ways, goal scorer,” Galaxy coach Greg Vanney said. “That’s what he wa

Before pursuing a real estate deal, QUALIFY it first
In commercial real estate, not every opportunity is created equal.
Some sparkle at first glance but fade with time.
Others seem ordinary but blossom into career-defining deals.
After decades in this business, I’ve learned that success often comes down to asking the right questions before diving in.
That’s why I developed the QUALIFY framework.
QUALIFY is an acronym — a checklist, really — designed to evaluate whether a prospect or assignment is worth your time and effort.
