Was Einstein right? Cal State Fullerton scientists find more evidence that says he was
Astronomers, including a team at Cal State Fullerton, have detected two neutron stars merging together, proving for the second time in two years a key element of Albert Einstein’s theories about the universe.
The observation of the interstellar merger, which happened roughly 130 million light years from earth, demonstrates that gravitational waves move through the universe at roughly the same rate as the speed of light.

Dustin May stifles Rockies as Dodgers get back on track
LOS ANGELES — Dustin May was about to throw a warm-up pitch before the second inning on Monday night when an insect appeared to fly into his face, causing the Dodgers pitcher to abort his windup as he swatted the bug away.
It was with similar ease that May shooed away the Colorado Rockies, the lanky right-hander continuing his early season dominance by allowing one run and three hits in six innings of a 5-3 Dodgers victory before a sellout crowd of 52,693 in Chavez Ravine.

Dodgers won’t adjust lineup to get Shohei Ohtani more RBI opportunities
LOS ANGELES — Shohei Ohtani’s bat is so lethal that he is essentially in scoring position when he steps into the batter’s box, but if the slugger is going to be as productive as he’s been for the Dodgers, he’s going to need some traffic ahead of him on the bases.
Entering Monday night’s game against Colorado, Ohtani, who has hit leadoff since last June, had only seven plate appearances – and three at-bats – with runners in scoring position in 17 ga

What to do about cottony cushion scale, a common pest of citrus
    Q. What are these weird white things on my citrus trees? They don’t seem like they’re moving, but they sure do attract ants!
Cottony cushion scale is a common pest of citrus, but can also infest other outdoor woody plants, particularly nandina and pittosporum. Usually, they can be found on new twiggy growth at the base of leaf petioles. The scale itself is rather small and golden brown in color. What you notice is the large egg sac she carries around like a white pleated oversized ba

    I have so many questions.
Including, sure: Does it mean I’m hopelessly out of touch that I’m wondering whether the transfer portal and the chaotic new dimension it’s brought to college sports is really all that great?
On the whole, in the long run, is it crazy to think that having 2,100 men’s basketball players in the portal last season, and 1,367 women’s players this year (as of Monday morning) could be a bit much? And by a bit, I mean a colossally substantial

After years of economic stagnation following Ford Motor Co.’s exit from the region in 2021, there was hope that the global leader in electric vehicles would bring back well-paying jobs and a brighter future.

When the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival ends, there’s a bittersweet feeling similar to the emotions of saying goodbye to friends at a high school graduation.
